The Sound of Comfort

Chill in the air, I sit by the rusted frame,

the radiator wheezes, a tired, old friend,

warmth struggles to rise, in the silence it came,

with clanks and whirs, a familiar blend.

It fights with the cold, the draught creeping near,

like hope through the cracks in this old, worn place,

yet listening close, I find comfort here,

as memories swirl in the soft, dim embrace.

It sputters and huffs, but it doesn’t retreat,

the struggle's a story, reminding me why,

in the chill of the night, this warmth is a treat,

just like every moment, I choose to rely.
