The Song We Danced To

Familiar chords creep in, uninvited,

cradling memories between the notes,

our song woven into echoes,

where we twirled across empty spaces.

It spins me back to a room alive,

with dim lights pulsating, hearts stirring,

a dance floor alive, but here,

I stand, feet planted in yesterday,

your absence heavy against my chest.

Each note unfurls like a petal,

a reminder of breaths shared,

the way laughter spiraled,

how warmth filled corners,

yet now, it’s just silence,

each beat shattering against the walls,

the rhythm a ghost, brushing past me,

reminding me of movements we’ll never share,

a ceiling above as heavy as all that’s unsaid,

where our dance just lingers, lingering—

a flicker behind closed doors.
