Unsay Words

Laughter spills like sunlight,

but here I am, a flower in shade,

watching them breathe ease into the air.

The sun blazes down,

a relentless reminder of everything I fear,

a dribble of sweat slides down my brow,

in a moment so trivial, in a cup of iced tea—

condensation forming secrets I can’t share,

each drop feels weighted with silence,

as if the warmth could ever consume me whole.
