Ticking Reminders

The clock on the wall is louder tonight,

a heartbeat kept in time, each second I dread,

as shadows stretch long in the dimming light,

it echoes my past like a song in my head.

I sit in the stillness, the ticking resumes,

reminding me softly of chances I missed,

like petals that fall in the hush of their blooms,

a lullaby woven from moments dismissed.

Every tick is a flash of what could have been mine,

as the minutes just slip, slip away without care,

just a pendulum swinging, a fate by design,

a gentle reminder of burdens I bear.
