Carrying Weight

Each inhale comes heavy, like stones in my chest,

a struggle to breathe, a reluctant request.

Life's murmur around me, a blur and a rush,

and I sit, still wondering, feeling the hush.

In crowded cafés, voices blend into one,

as I hold back a gasp for the moments undone.

The weight of it all, pressing down with a sigh,

every breath like a question, an echo, a why.

I feel the air thick, pressing close like a shroud,

reminding me gently, you’re lost in the crowd.

Yet deep in my lungs, a flicker of flame,

a whisper of life, that won’t be tamed.
