Witnessing Love

Their laughter fills the air, warm yet cruel,

as if it were a tapestry, woven by chance,

while I sit, coffee half-finished, a lonely spool,

watching joy ignite, a flicker, a dance.

The way he leans close, like magnets pulled tight,

every shared word, a spark ignites the day,

I swallow the ache, the bitter and slight,

as if my heart should just fade, slip away.

I trace the rim of my cup, steam swirls slow,

as they gaze, unaware, of the weight that I bear,

reminders of love’s effortless glow,

where once, I believed I had space, my own share.
