Green with Envy

In the window’s glare, I caught her bright smile,
a flawless post with a picture-perfect life,
my heart twisted tight, feeling small for a while,
as if through the glass, I’d stepped into strife.
A wilted flower on my desk, forgotten,
while she bloomed in colors I wish I could wear,
envy chokes softly, a dagger begotten,
in the silence of scrolls, I cradle my despair.
My dreams like shadows linger, just out of reach,
with each swipe of her joy, my hopes start to fray,
why does my heart ache like this, won’t it teach?
the sting of comparison, pulling me away.
