Tension and Release

Subway’s metal bites my palm,

a sticky grip of crowded hesitation—

faces brush past, a pulse of strangers,

the rhythm churning underfoot.

Condensation drips like thoughts

spooling over my tongue, frustrations rise

with every breath, the heat thick

with unmet expectations,

a single bead rolls down, just another

weighted choice cascading to the floor.
