In the pharmacy’s glow I ponder the glass

In the pharmacy’s glow, I ponder the glass,

a small bottle of iodine—a hint of the past.

How something so quiet can matter so much,

reminding me daily of health’s gentle touch.

It’s swallowed and forgotten, but when it’s not there,

the body recalls in the language of care.

And I stand in this aisle, contemplating my worth,

as the fleeting essentials dance back to the earth.
