7 AM Clatter

Seven.

The lid rings out,

a sharp, small heaven

of ritual, no doubt.

Then the scrape,

plastic on rough ground.

A dull escape

of morning's sound.

It tells the hour,

a clock in the street.

A strange, small power.

Bitter, yet sweet.
