Aftermath of Indifference

Laughter spilled out from the bar down the street,
like confetti from moments we thought were complete.
But last week’s passion turned quickly to ash,
a flicker of heat reduced to a flash.
We fumbled in darkness, where promises blur,
a crumpled receipt is all that we were.
Names scribbled hastily, lost in the night,
now fade like the stars, out of reach, out of sight.
What did it matter, that spark turned to dust,
when bodies collide and hearts lose their trust?
I look back and wonder, was anything real,
or just hollow encounters that left me to feel?
