The Warmth Returns

Step outside, the sun’s warmth kisses my skin,

a long-lost embrace, where spring may begin.

People shed layers, unmasking their smiles,

like flowers breaking through, from their frozen trials.

The smell of wet earth, like a promise reborn,

lingers in air, announcing the dawn.

A sigh from my heart, as I breathe in the day,

a feeling of hope that winter stole away.
