I woke with a jaw like a vise in the night

I woke with a jaw like a vise in the night,

dreams gnashing and crashing, oh what a fright.

Under fluorescent lights, the chair feels like fate,

and every old tale adds weight to my state.

A casual chat turns to dental despair,

as I hear of the drills and the thin, biting air.

Oh, the shudder of root canals echo in me,

leaving whispers of fear and what might never be.
