Shrinkage of the Familiar

I visited home, the quiet revealed,

how their ambitions had slowly concealed.

A trivial fight over a remote that we own,

their stature diminished, like plants overgrown.

Their laughter now brittle, the years pressing down,

once vibrant hearts are now tattered and brown.

The photos once vivid now fade on the wall,

reflecting the echoes of dreams that stall.

Once giants they stood, now whispers remain,

the strength of their love mingles with pain.

It’s hard to watch as they shrink and retreat,

while I carry their burdens, my heart bittersweet.
