Filling the Gaps

Gathered around a table, laughter and cheer,

the spread of old dishes, yet silence draws near.

A half-empty bowl with edges chipped wide,

reminds us of gatherings where warmth used to bide.

The casserole cools, memories linger and sway,

the fullness of friendship fades more every day.

But still we sit close, with stories to share,

clinging to moments, hoping they care.
