Suspended in Time

I spotted the hammock, swaying so low,

a promise of stillness in the bustle below.

Children leap in, laughter breaks free,

dragging my heart from its hallowed routine.

Caught in their joy, I feel time tilt strange,

a jolt from the present, a pulse to exchange.

The ropes intertwining, a promise half-kept,

reminding me softly how stillness is swept.

I envy their freedom, the ease in their play,

a tangle of thoughts, washed slowly away.
