I gathered my thoughts in a halfempty cup

I gathered my thoughts in a half-empty cup,

the café around me buzzing, a last look up.

I packed my things slowly, time slipping like sand,

oblivious to endings that slipped through my hands.

The warmth of the drink, fading just like the light,

leaving this place was a dull, quiet fright.

The door chimed softly, as if to remind,

it’s the last sip of something that once intertwined.
