The Light of Absence

I lit the lone candle, its flame danced in fright,

as shadows grew longer, devouring the light.

The silence it filled felt thick as a wall,

where memories linger like ghosts in the hall.

Each flicker a heartbeat, each drip a lost tear,

the wax pooling slowly, each shape formed from fear.

In this empty room, the flame sways and bends,

a reminder of absence, where darkness descends.
