Unsayed Words

The air thick with absence, a chill that bites,

I stand by the casket, searching for light,

memories dance in shadows, regrets intertwine,

words slip through fingers, a lost lifeline.

I wish I had said, how you mattered to me,

the laughter we shared, the bond, wild and free,

yet silence, a weight, pressing down like stone,

each unspoken truth feels like a curse I own.

The earth, freshly turned, blankets stories unsaid,

if only to grasp what remains, still ahead,

the conversation we needed, now buried and deep,

I swallow my sorrow, the promises I keep.
