In the corner a pair of shoes scuffed and frayed

In the corner, a pair of shoes, scuffed and frayed,

they carry the weight of the journeys I’ve made,

each mark on the leather a chapter unfurled,

remnants of battles, the steps in this world.

I slip them on, the fit a familiar embrace,

every crease holds a moment, every thread, a trace,

from heartaches to laughter, they’ve witnessed it all,

across cracked pavement, through rise and through fall.

These soles have held me through heartache and glee,

the miles stitched together, they map out my plea,

with each stride I take, memories stir and swell,

I walk through the past, where I learned how to dwell.
