Tension in Proximity

In crowded spaces, a glance draws me near,

that soft nape, a moment, igniting a fear.

Close on the subway, I watch as they stare,

a casual intimacy thickens the air.

Their focus diverted, a screen in their grip,

yet I linger on skin, the tension, a slip.

A fleeting desire, raw and exposed,

connections unsaid, the attraction enclosed.
