Traffic Thoughts

Stuck in the jam, time stretches thin,

like rubber bands taut, my thoughts come rushing in.

Brake lights flash like stars in a stagnant night,

the words unsaid weave through the red glow bright.

Each moment creeps forward, like shadows they crawl,

reminding me softly of that last bitter call.

A crumpled cup rolls, silent and free,

desires and regrets rush like cars next to me.

I clutch the wheel tightly, yet lose my own way,

in this stalled parade where thoughts start to play.

Like the gridlock outside, they inch toward the light,

trapped in a moment, struggling to take flight.
