Thumb Planet

That doorframe got me this morning.

A sharp crack.

Then the worry:

what would it look like?

And now, it’s starting.

A slow bloom

under the nail,

darkening,

like a tiny planet

I didn't ask for.

It sits there,

a small, purple world.

Holding its shape.

I keep looking at it,

trying to make it mean something.

Or nothing.
