Halfway Stuck

The lobby was full.

People moving.

Talking too loud.

I reached for my coat.


Pulled the zipper up.

It snagged.

A thread, maybe.

Or just the cheap metal.


The slider froze.

Halfway up my chest.

A small, cold halt.


I tugged. Then harder.

It wouldn't budge.

Felt ridiculous.

Stuck in the middle.

Of everyone.
