The Quick Stitch

She said it like a fact.

'You always were too quick to forgive them.'

And it landed.

A stone dropped in still water.

I thought of the sweater.

My favorite one, navy blue.

A tear near the elbow.

I tried to fix it myself.

Used thread I found.

It was a shade lighter.

A visible mending.

Almost invisible, really.

Peace is cheaper.

Or feels that way.

When you can’t find the right color.

To make the wound disappear.
