Trapped Illumination

Sunlight streams through a window smeared,

dust motes dance, uninvited, they’ve sneered.

The world outside dims as rays seek to pass,

yet they splinter and fracture through cloudy glass.

I gaze at the patterns, a patchwork of grime,

light splits like thoughts, heavy, caught in time.

Each angle reveals what’s hidden and lost,

shadows grow longer, a mind's heavy cost.
