Invisible Chains

A ping from the phone, a reminder to fear,

the ghost of my finances whispers in sneers.

The subscription I signed up for, once a delight,

glows on the screen, a curse in plain sight.

I hover above 'cancel' like it’s a black hole,

it pulls at my sanity, weighs heavy on soul.

Each month, a burden, I paid to be tied,

like ivy it grows, and I can't find a ride.
