What lingers in blood in whispers of fate

What lingers in blood, in whispers of fate,

hearing my sister’s news, I suddenly wait.

The weight of a legacy, heavy and true,

what my mother bore now runs inside me too.

A family tree stretches, but branches are bare,

rusty with secrets, disease in the air.

The tide pulls me under, I tread through the haze,

realizations linger, lost in the maze.
