I promised to show her how to tie,

to navigate knots in her tiny world.

Bright red laces dangle, a hopeful sigh,

she struggles with loops, her tongue unfurled.

Each twist brings back my voice,

soft as a whisper, brave and bright.

I’d never break that trust, the choice

to guide her through each knotted fight.
