Twisted

Caught on a crack, I feel the sharp pull,

an awkward misstep, the world starts to dull.

A jolt runs through me, like lightning it strikes,

as my ankle gives way, the pavement now spikes.

Resting on cushions, a swollen, sore ache,

purple blooms on skin, my body will break.

But it’s more than the pain; it’s the way I still roam,

every crack in the sidewalk feels like a home.
