Cold Inside

Walking into the church, a shiver runs deep,
as winter’s breath wraps me, secrets to keep.
The chill in the air, a stark, biting layer,
reminds me of prayers once whispered in prayer.
Frost on the windows, the stained glass aglow,
reflecting my doubts in the shadows below.
I search for a comfort, but find only cold,
a silence that echoes the stories retold.
