Pride and Envy

Scrolling through screens, I see it unfold,

my friend in a driveway, bright and bold.

New car shines, while my heart feels worn,

a rusted old model, frayed and forlorn.

He waves from the leather, so clean, so fine,

while I keep my envy like a glass of cheap wine.

Bitter and heavy, a taste I can’t shake,

it’s shameful, this feeling, for goodness’ sake.
