Impressions Left Behind

The window bears my smudged reflections,

fingerprints lingering,

tracing the outline of forgotten thoughts

in the gray drench of a dreary day.

I peer out, the world blurring,

my face half lost in the haze,

a dull echo of longing and regret,

as rain streaks down,

cleansing yet obscuring my view.
