My heart jolted awake, panic unchained,
the clock’s hands held their breath, the darkness unfurled.
I missed my alarm, all the plans now ingrained,
a job slipped away like sand, dreams unwhirled.
A cracked phone glows with messages bleak,
in the quiet of morning, regret takes a seat.
What’s lost is a shadow, too heavy to speak,
the weight of the hours that slipped from my feet.
