Connections that Bind

A mess lies behind the couch, tangled and fraught,

each extension reaches like fingers of fear.

I trip on the chaos, so much I never sought,

yet somehow they cling, drawing me near.

I gather the knots, a reflection of me,

so caught up in things I never chose to keep.

These wires like thoughts that yearn to be free,

a chaotic reminder of promises to sweep.
