Pretending to Miss It All

In conversations, I nod, play dumb,
while knowing the truth sits heavy and cold.
A mutual friend’s laughter, the quiet hum,
but I feign ignorance, let the story unfold.
A half-open letter lies waiting for me,
each word a secret I buried too deep.
Pretending to miss it feels safer, you see,
while truth pulls me closer, into shadows I creep.
