Lost beneath time

A paperback wedged tight,

forgotten behind heavy wood,

its spine cracked with secrets.

Dust swirls in lazy spirals

as I pull it free,

a cloud of stale air

stirring memories trapped too long.

Pages yellowed,

words faded like old voices,

a story abandoned,

waiting for a reader

who stopped turning pages

years ago.
