Numbers and Shadows

A letter arrives, sharp as a knife,
marked ‘FINAL NOTICE,’ the math of my life.
It slips through the door, heavy as stone,
a reminder of choices that I’ve come to own.
Each number a ghost, a debt in disguise,
whispers of burdens I struggle to size.
Once a small sum, now a mountain of weight,
growing with interest, it feeds on my fate.
I trace every figure, each line like a scar,
a budget of dreams, and they’re fading so far.
I’m trapped in this cycle, a dance with regret,
tangled in numbers, I wish to forget.
