Fleeting Impressions

In the mirror, a chipped edge catches my eye,

a reminder of moments, of life’s tiny scars,

so small, yet the world seems to hinge on the shy,

the details that slip by, like dust from afar.

Each flicker of polish reveals what I hide,

the flaws that I notice but others can't see,

it’s just a thumbnail, but it carries my pride,

like pieces of me, lost, yet yearning to be.
