Lost Connections

A crossword puzzle, pages crumpled and creased,

a jumble of letters I once tried to find.

Half-finished and dusty, my focus has ceased,

like thoughts left in limbo, the answers confined.

The clues whisper softly, forgotten and stale,

but I can’t grasp the letters that linger, half-formed.

Once, I’d chase answers, now I feel frail,

as if every word I once knew has been warmed.

In that unfinished space, I feel lost and alone,

a metaphor growing in the silence I seek.

Words fade into shadows, like seeds that aren't sown,

leaving gaps where connections should flourish and speak.
