Everyday Guardians

Bright red sentinel, chipped paint on the street,

a fire hydrant standing where pavement and sky meet.

You watch the world pass, with stories untold,

waiting through seasons, both warm and cold.

When the rain taps softly, you drink in the gray,

holding your ground through the storms of the day.

A guardian silent, your purpose in view,

yet overlooked often, like dreams we outgrew.

Kids splash in puddles, and you stand nearby,

a witness to laughter, to tears that run dry.

In this bustling city, your quiet remains,

a marker of hope, through joys and through pains.
