The Fence That Bled Rust

Sunlight slices through the bent metal ribs,

rippling shadows folding into cracked concrete.

Dents like bruises scattered across the face

of a fence that’s lost its fight.

Rust bleeds orange lines

that drip down its corrugated skin,

a slow fall from shiny to forgotten,

the way old wounds finally give up and stain.
