Breath Shapes

He blows the ring—

a perfect circle

hovering on cold air.

It floats, a fragile promise,

catching the dull glow

of the flickering streetlamp.

Silent, stubborn,

like the secrets

we try to hold inside.

Then it slips away,

thin and gone,

like the smoke itself,

like the moment that never stays.
