When the body speaks

The stairs betrayed me, sharp and sly,

a pinch of pain, a sudden cry.

My foot, it limped before I knew,

white blister nestled out of view.

Sunburned skin that baked all day,

forgotten miles in yesterday’s sway.

My mind was busy, tried to forget,

but my body’s voice won’t quit yet.

Every step now holds a secret ache,

a memory blister, slow to break.

The pain, a quiet, stubborn tweak,

when the body speaks, the mind is weak.
