Moments of Shift

This morning, a creak from the door caught my ear,

reminding me how fragile our lives can be,

a simple hinge, swinging with whispers of fear,

a moment so small, yet it grounds me with glee.

It swung wide open, then caught on a snag,

the shift in routine like a sigh from the past,

and I stood there wondering, my heart in a rag,

how small things can shape all the moments that last.

In the stillness of change, I felt a new start,

each creak tells a story, each click holds a name,

as I pause at the door, a pulse in my heart,

reminded that life, like a hinge, is the same.
