Stretched Dimensions

The measuring tape unfurls like a map of my skin,

across the walls of this room, a tightness within.

Each inch marked in fear of what’s growing too close,

as I outline the limits, I feel them engross.

I pull at the line, trying to claim what is mine,

but the space seems to shrink, it’s a flawed design.

I measure my worth against dreams that I chase,

only to find I’m still lost in this place.
