Dissonance

The night pulsed like a heartbeat,

a symphony of noise drenching the air,

every note a blunt weapon,

clashing in vibrant layers.

Outside, silence draped itself like a shroud,

but my ears buzzed with remnants, a hive,

where the bass had once throbbed, loud,

now it’s a ghost town, trying to survive.

Fingers pressed to my skull,

trying to silence the lingering hum,

but it clings to me, a stubborn pull,

a reminder of chaos, a place I come from.
