Silence in the Waiting

The phone in my hand, slick, heavy like regret,

cradling hope, but silence is all I can get.

I wait for a buzz, a word, a sign,

a ghost in the inbox where messages align.

Just a notification, the glow pulls me close,

but it’s just an app, leaving me morose.

In the stillness, my heart drums a tired beat,

waiting for answers that never repeat.
