The Name I Never Had

Someone called a child by the name I could be,

it echoed in my mind, like waves in the sea.

A moment so small, yet it struck like a chord,

reminding me softly of a life unexplored.

The sound hung in air, like a swing left to sway,

as I pondered the paths that led me away.

That name could have danced on my tongue every day,

yet here I remain, in this name I betray.
