Rough Edges

The schoolyard echoes with fists and with screams,

while I try to navigate these jagged regimes.

Caught in the crossfire, where voices collide,

it’s a battle each day to find where I can hide.

Pushed and pulled by the weight of their eyes,

the asphalt is hard, and the laughter is lies.

I shuffle through hallways, feeling like stone,

where every bruise carries a weight of its own.
